Benefits of ESI Registration
The ESI scheme is designed to provide comprehensive social security coverage to employees. Once registered, the employer is responsible for deducting the employee’s contribution and depositing it along with the employer’s share into the ESIC account.
Currently, the contribution rates are 0.75% of wages from the employee and 3.25% from the employer (subject to change as per government notifications). These contributions entitle employees to a wide range of benefits including medical treatment, cash compensation, maternity benefits, and disability benefits.
After registration, employers must generate an Insurance Number for each employee and ensure proper record maintenance. Employees receive an ESI card, which allows them to avail medical services at ESIC hospitals and dispensaries.
Non-compliance with ESI regulations can lead to penalties, interest charges, and legal consequences. Therefore, timely registration and regular compliance are essential for businesses.
